"Excerpts from My Diaries- September 18, 2012"

"Aren't we expecting too much from our students when our educational institutions promote discrimination, don't allow space to students to think and reflect? I mean, how on earth shall we expect the youth to be creative, analytical, logical, reflective, genuine, humane, sensible, caring, law abiding, tolerant, peace loving individuals when a teacher doesn'
t have a single of those qualities. I mean, how should we expect them to be extraordinary when an ordinary teacher makes them memorise lines from a book of ethics which he himself never believed in or practised. It is a country of contradiction- a haven for ignorants, power hungry academics. Shehzad, a young cab driver told me yesterday, " Sir , when you see a bad driver on the road violating traffic signals, don't blame him, he is innocent. It is his Ustad (teacher/instructor) who taught him how to drive. Mine was a good one"
